Local group With Many Hands proposes urban farmer training, will run Alamogordo Farmers Market in 2026

Courtney McCarry Squires, community organizer for the grassroots group With Many Hands, told the City Commission during public comment on Aug. 28 that her organization is working to convert vacant lots into micro farms, community gardens and training opportunities.
Squires told commissioners the group has been working on “economic development opportunity through micro farms throughout Alamogordo” since 2022 and plans an Urban Farmer Training Program with paid interns to teach residents to grow and sell produce and use benefit programs. “We will be taking over the Alamogordo Farmers Market in 2026,” she said.
