City Manager Bob Baer told the Gladstone City Council on Sept. 8 that the city recently held a ribbon-cutting for an on-demand door-to-door ride service for residents and that the council and staff participated in a groundbreaking for the Northland Workforce Development Center, a project scheduled to open in 2027.
Baer said residents can visit the city’s website for details about the new ride service. He thanked Mayor Smith, Mayor Pro Tem Moore and Councilman Nave for taking part in the groundbreaking. Baer described the workforce center as supporting “more than 20 career paths across the variety of industries,” with an expected opening in 2027.
Separately, Council member Spalo and Mayor Pro Tem Moore thanked volunteers for a recent neighborhood trash pickup led by the Glad Green Team; Spalo specifically thanked Julie Beamer for organizing the effort. No funding or operational details for the ride service or the workforce center were included in the meeting transcript.
