Liquor Control Commission approves two Class I licenses for September community events

At the Aug. 4, 2025 Liquor Control Commission meeting, commissioners approved two Class I liquor licenses for community events this fall. The first approval was for Saint Joseph the Worker Parish to serve alcohol at an event on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025. Village staff member Svan Delos described the request as "substantially similar to events the parish has held in the past" and said there were no additional conditions recommended. Commissioner Vogel moved approval; the motion carried on a roll-call vote. The second approval was for Wheeling Helping Hands to serve alcohol at a Broadfest on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025 at 375 West Dundee Road in the Wheeling Town Centre. Staff member Sandelis said the event is a benefit for a local charitable organization and that village social channels list more information. Commissioners approved the license by roll call; one commissioner abstained during the vote. Staff indicated no special conditions were required for either event. No appeals or further discussion were recorded.
