Mayor Williams presented a slate of appointments and reappointments on July 14, and the Urbana City Council confirmed them by roll call.
The council confirmed the appointment of David Hayes to the Design Review Board (term ending June 30, 2028). Reappointments recorded on the meeting included Tony Allegretti and Peggy Patton to the Civilian Police Review Board (terms ending June 30, 2028) and Gary Breguet to the Building Safety Code Board of Appeals (term ending June 30, 2028). The clerk called the roll and the appointments were confirmed.
Council members used the confirmation discussion to emphasize that the Civilian Police Review Board has been operating with vacancies and has at times lacked a quorum. Council member Jaya encouraged residents to apply and noted the board needs more members to function effectively. Council member Grace added that some qualified applicants in past cycles had not been nominated and urged staff and council to identify and re-contact previous applicants who might still be interested.
Grace also commended Tony Allegretti for assistance on the city's surveillance ordinance and said she hoped to continue work on the CPRB's role in oversight when the board is fully seated.
No motions to reject or amend any appointment were recorded; all confirmations passed by roll-call vote. The meeting record did not include further staff directives or specific deadlines for recruiting additional CPRB members.
