Village approves Cook County Class 6b tax classification for Power Restoration relocation

The Village of Wheeling Board on Aug. 4, 2025 approved a resolution consenting to a Cook County Class 6b real estate tax assessment classification for the property at 2039 Foster Avenue to permit Power Restoration's relocation from Elk Grove Village and expansion. Planning/staff introduced the request and representatives for the company, including Glenn Hankins and attorney Zach Kefetz, described Power Restoration as a disaster-restoration business that stores drying and odor-control equipment and performs pack-outs. Hankins told the board there are no hazardous materials to be stored onsite and that the company plans to expand its real estate footprint by about 50 percent. Trustees asked about jobs, storage and timing. Staff and the applicant said the move would bring roughly 10 to 14 jobs plus an additional 10 or more higher-paying positions with an average salary around $90,000 plus benefits. The company said it hopes to close on the building by the end of the month and expects to delay full operations about 30 days while renovating office space to remove odors from the site. Trustees also were told the firm stores mainly vans and plans to install an oversized overhead door so vehicles can be kept inside. A motion to approve the resolution was moved by Trustee Papantos and seconded by Trustee Krueger. The roll call vote was unanimous in favor.
