Council pulls agenda items after administrator cites global electrical agreement and pending EV policy

Kirkwood city council voted to remove two agenda items after the city administrator said existing contracts and pending policy discussions made separate action unnecessary. The council removed the items by voice vote at the start of the meeting.

The city administrator told the council that “the electrical services fall under a global agreement… and [were] fully budgeted,” and therefore the first agenda item did not need to remain on the docket. On the second item, the administrator said action should await a future council conversation about electric-vehicle charging infrastructure for private applications.

A staff representative added that “Kirkwood Electric will not be installing EV charging infrastructure for these types of applications until that discussion has occurred,” and recommended removing the item.

Council members approved the removal by voice vote after the administrator’s explanation; no formal motion text or roll-call names for the motion were recorded beyond the voice vote being unanimous in favor. The removal means the council will not take substantive action on the two listed items at this meeting and will await a future policy discussion before considering private EV charging installations or related electrical-service items.

The action was procedural; the council did not adopt a new policy or change existing contract terms at the meeting. Any future council action on EV charging infrastructure or on electrical-service contracts will require placement on a future agenda and, if required by ordinance, a formal motion and vote.
