Council approves backstop netting and new courts equipment for Nelson, Ashley and Atchley parks

The Lebanon City Council on Aug. 25 approved multiple park-safety and recreation equipment purchases aimed at improving ballfields and adding courts to Ashley/Atchley Park.
Council authorized purchase and installation of backstop netting from Mammoth Sports Construction for Nelson Park and the Ashley Park sports complex. Staff said the netting matches installations at comparable venues and was procured through a competitive bid process.
The council also approved purchases of light poles and fixtures from Graybar Electric and basketball goals and pickleball nets from BSN Sports for the new court area at Atchley/Ashley Park. Staff described plans for four pickleball courts and a full-size basketball court (noted to be slightly smaller than official high-school dimensions) and said the court lights will be timed and feature on/off controls so lights turn off automatically at park closing hours (staff mentioned approximately 10:15 p.m.).
Park staff said Wallace courts are heavily used nightly and that the new facility is designed to be expandable if demand continues; they mentioned a plan that would permit adding additional courts in a later phase.
Council moved, seconded and approved the purchases by ordinance; roll calls recorded affirmative votes.
