During public input at the Urbana City Council meeting on Aug. 11, Claudia Lynn Hoff, director of Champaign County Health Care Consumers, announced upcoming community information sessions this fall to help residents understand recent budget changes and enrollment options.
Hoff said an information session on the recent large budget bill and its impacts on health, food and housing programs will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the Champaign Public Library; she said she could provide written materials later. She also announced a Medicare open-enrollment information session on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Champaign Public Library for people new to Medicare or nearing eligibility and said the organization will connect attendees to help with the enrollment process.
Hoff added that the state of Illinois is opening its own health-insurance marketplace platform this fall and that Champaign County Health Care Consumers will host a marketplace open-enrollment community meeting in late October; the exact date and time for that session were not yet determined. She offered to provide more information when dates are finalized.
The announcements were made during the public-input portion of the meeting and were presented as community-service information; no formal council action was taken on the announcements.
