Cass County commissioners approve contract for jail security audio‑video equipment

The Cass County Commission on Sept. 10 approved Resolution 25-91 to accept a proposal from P1 Group Inc. for security audio‑video equipment installation at the Cass County Jail. The motion passed on a 3-0 vote by Commissioners Bob Houston, Mike Orland and Jeff Fletcher.
County staff said the project will install computer screens and fixtures to display public‑safety messages, rules and “some behavior modification type things.” A representative of the sheriff’s office told the commission the work will be paid from inmate security funds, which the staff described as coming from court fines and inmate commissary, and not from county tax revenue.
Commissioner Barber asked questions during the staff report. The commission moved, seconded and recorded three affirmative votes to adopt Resolution 25-91.
The resolution references an amendment to an existing agreement authorized previously by Resolution 25-46 and accepts P1 Group Inc.’s proposal for the installation. The sheriff’s office provided the staff report and the commission took formal action to approve the contract that day.
