The Christian County Commission on Sept. 11 removed two items from its agenda — a memorandum of understanding between the county and the county courts, and a vote on the juvenile court's proposed 2026 budget — and rescheduled them for the Sept. 25 commission meeting at 8:30 a.m.
"We're gonna take off the first two items. They will be postponed until 9/25 commission meeting at 08:30 because ... Judge Johnson ... needs to start at 08:30," the presiding commissioner said when asking the commission to approve the consent agenda that reflected the removal.
The presiding commissioner said the juvenile court budget and the MOU are linked and that the parties are still working with Judge Johnson to finalize the MOU so it can be reviewed and approved on Sept. 25. "Those two things that we're removing from the agenda is the MOU agreement between the Christian County courts and Christian County. We're working on that, and we'll have that ready very soon for Judge Johnson to review and hopefully approve where we can get that approved on 09/25," the presiding commissioner said.
The commission approved the consent agenda with those removals. The chair later reiterated scheduling changes and local event announcements: the county will clear the parking area where the new commission vehicle is parked ahead of an Oktoberfest event; the American flag was lowered to half-staff through Monday in observance of 9/11 and following the death of Charlie Kirk, the presiding commissioner said; and the presiding commissioner noted he will be absent Sept. 18, with Commissioner Williams acting as presiding commissioner that day.
Commissioners also discussed outreach events: the commission accepted an invitation from the Ozark Chamber for a Sept. 25 presentation and encouraged commissioners to prepare a short summary of county activities; Commissioner Jackson invited residents to a community engagement session at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Ozark Community Center and mentioned a senior breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The transcript does not record additional formal action on the MOU or the juvenile budget; both items were rescheduled for a future meeting when Judge Johnson can participate.
