The Parks and Recreation Committee discussed installation estimates on Jan. 9 for player bench coverings at Fenton City Park and heard a staff recommendation to contract with PlayPro for the metal roof covers.
Public Works Director Dan Howard solicited three installation quotes that ranged from about $10,000 to $88,000. In committee packet materials Dan recommended PlayPro as the manufacturer; the committee was told that PlayPro regularly performs this type of installation. For concrete pads and installation the committee was given a worst‑case figure of approximately $15,000; combining fabrication and pad work would bring the project estimate to roughly $25,000, staff said.
Aldermen noted that the ordinance approving the coverings underwent first reading the prior month and that the matter will appear on the board agenda for final action; no final contract was awarded at the committee meeting. Staff said Dan will seek additional competitive pricing for concrete work and will return with contract language and cost breakdowns.
