Nikki, a city staff member, told the committee that emergency mitigation by Servpro removed water‑damaged drywall and insulation after November flooding and that further repairs are needed to return the concession stand to service. Servpro provided a bid to continue repairs; staff recommended moving ahead under the existing contract to avoid delays that could push the facility past March, when Game Time expects the concession to be open.
Committee members asked staff to explore alternate, more water‑resistant materials — including mold‑ and water‑resistant drywall, pivoting vanities to pedestal or stainless fixtures, or installing removable interior finishes — and to confirm health‑department and county code requirements for concession facilities. Staff reported that the concession stand building is in a floodplain and that the board previously declined flood insurance because annual premiums were estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars; Fenton City Park building has flood insurance, the staff noted.
Alderman Hills moved to authorize Servpro under the city contract; Alderman Claus seconded. The roll call showed all seven aldermen present voting aye and the motion carried.
Committee members also discussed longer‑term capital options including elevating or replacing the concession with a more flood‑resistant structure and possibly separating storage from the concession building. Staff said those are longer‑term capital discussions and that the immediate priority is to reopen the concession for the upcoming season.
