Fenton police report rise in shoplifting arrests; speed radar data draws resident concern

Captain Matt Bliviak, the Fenton Police Department captain, briefed the Board of Aldermen on June public-safety data as the city’s top policing concerns: retail larcenies, a rise in arrests and continued outreach to residents. “780 calls of service were handled for the month of June with 1,383 self-initiated assignments,” Captain Matt Bliviak told the board. He said there were 28 arrests in June, up from 19 the previous month and 17 in June 2024, and that most of the arrests were tied to larceny/shoplifting complaints in the retail area known as the Bluffs, with Walmart repeatedly named as a primary location for incidents and arrests.
