Aldermen approve park beautification day, special event and pickleball lessons contract

The Fenton Board of Aldermen on Aug. 28 approved several parks and recreation items: a park beautification day at Fenton City Park on Saturday, Oct. 11; a special-event request from GoFull Newton for Fenton City Park; and an agreement with Callahan Pickleball LLC for pickleball lessons and a camp tied to the 2025 Fenton Pickleball Academy. Alderman Hills moved approval of the park beautification day and the GoFull Newton request; Alderman Jokers and Alderman Harrell seconded respective motions and both motions carried. The board also considered and adopted bill 25‑58 by roll call; the second reading made it ordinance 45‑79, authorizing the mayor to execute the pickleball agreement. Committee notes in the meeting packet flagged additional parks items under review, including a bid to move the Old Town Pavilion, improvements to the Fabic Nature Preserve overlook, and parts projects proposed for the 2026 budget; the committee tabled those items for further consideration. The board approved the time and date for the beautification event and delegated implementation steps to Parks and Recreation staff. What to expect next: event logistics, volunteer coordination and any vendor or contractor work for the pickleball academy will be handled by Parks and Recreation under the terms of the approved agreement and existing municipal permitting procedures.
