Fenton aldermen voted Sept. 4 to amend the city’s contract with Elite Properties to provide on‑call cleanup and abatement services for city‑owned property and rights of way. City staff said Elite Properties already handled nuisance and dangerous‑structure cleanup work and would be asked to provide additional on‑call capacity during staffing shortages and storm responses.
The amendment approves an on‑call, as‑needed arrangement for tasks such as vegetation trimming along rights of way, debris removal, and other cleanup the city would prefer not to delay while staff are occupied with urgent tasks. The motion was presented by Alderman Jane Brightshaft and seconded by Alderman Brian Wissbrock; the committee approved the amendment by voice vote.
Staff said the on‑call arrangement would be used only for specified tasks, and that formal procurement thresholds apply for larger projects (formal competitive bidding required for projects over $15,000). The city will use the on‑call contract to supplement crews for storm cleanup and vegetation control, and to address property-abatement work when internal crews are committed elsewhere.
