Commissioners reappoint and name nominees to mental health, public art and solid waste panels

The Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 4 approved multiple appointment resolutions on the consent agenda following a request to remove three items for discussion.

Commissioner Ashcraft explained the appointments were part of a reorganization and noted the board expects nominees to provide specific professional expertise. He moved approval of nominees to the Johnson County Mental Health Advisory Board, naming Dr. Kate Lamb and Mike Steed as third-district nominees and Captain Wade Brochure as the fifth-district nominee; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Allen Brand and passed 7-0.

The board also reappointed Jeff Severn and Kimmitt Coleman to the Johnson County Public Art Commission and approved fourth-district nominee Emily Vietti; that resolution passed 7-0. Separately, the board appointed John McConnell as Commissioner Myers’ representative to the Johnson County Solid Waste Management Committee by a separate motion that also passed by recorded roll call.

Each appointment was made under a reorganization process described in the briefing sheets; county counsel clarified the items were reappointments resulting from reorganization. No objections were recorded and each roll-call vote was unanimous.
