County public works recommends $3.05M contract award for Blue River No. 28 sewer extension (Contract District 1)

Johnson County wastewater staff recommended on Aug. 14 that Site Right Construction Company be awarded the Invitation for Bid No. 2025‑010 to construct the Blue River No. 28 Contract District 1 sewer main extension, with a low bid of $3,046,422. Susan Pekarek presented the project background: funding had previously been approved by the board (Sept. 2022) to serve the Contract District 1 area southwest of Flam and 170th Street. The red‑line interceptor sewer will extend service into that district. Staff said engineers’ opinion of probable cost was $4,228,400 but the low bid submitted by Site Right was $3,046,422; no additional funding was requested because the board previously approved project funding. Staff recommended award to Site Right and noted the firm met bonding and qualification requirements. Commissioner Ashcraft asked about the firm’s qualifications and staff confirmed they are satisfactory. The item was recommended for placement on the Aug. 21 consent agenda for formal award; no vote was recorded at the Aug. 14 agenda review.
