Potter County accepts insurance renewal, switches cyber coverage and orders vehicle list review after fleet spike

Potter County auditors and their insurance broker presented an insurance renewal package for the policy year beginning July 1, 2025. The Commissioners Court approved the renewal and accepted the broker'recommended move of cyber coverage from the county pool (TAC) to a separate Lloyd's policy.

Why it matters: The county faces a notable premium increase driven by higher property replacement costs, law enforcement liability claims, and a reported net increase of 13 vehicles on the fleet that pushed auto premiums higher. The court asked staff to audit the vehicle list for potential savings.

Steve Lett, the county's insurance agent, told the court he recommended keeping the county with TAC for most coverage but moving cyber insurance to Lloyd's of London for larger limits and a lower premium and deductible. "We're recommending all TAC except the cyber insurance," he said, and summarized that moving to Lloyd's would yield double the cyber limits for roughly $1,300 less in premium.
