Brookstone Regency enforcement continues; city cites ownership lapses and surety remediation progress

City attorneys updated the Committee of the Whole on June 2 about ongoing enforcement and remediation efforts at the Brookstone Regency (Coles Park) rental property, reporting that surety actions are under way and the nuisance case remains active.
The city attorney said the surety bond holder has produced benches, installed disability signage and is repairing sidewalks and paved surfaces in accordance with a punch list. The nuisance-case process has proceeded with progress checkpoints, and the hearing officer continued the matter until September to monitor summer-month conditions.
The city has also cited the property owner for failing to obtain an annual landlord license; staff told the committee the licensing issue has been resolved but fines remain outstanding. The city attorney said additional video and evidence continue to be added to the record and that the city will seek further enforcement if problems persist.
No new enforcement order was issued at the June 2 meeting. City staff said they will update the council and meet with the owner and counsel in mid-June and will return to the hearing officer in September to review whether required repairs and remedial measures hold through the summer.
