Commissioners received an update on early public outreach by Great Rivers Greenway (GRG) for a proposed Deer Creek connector and related trail segments. GRG is collecting community feedback via an online survey and public meetings, and commissioners said the project is in an early-stage planning phase.
Attendees said GRG’s outreach included a recent open house with roughly 60 attendees and that a QR code and survey link have been posted on the city’s social channels. Commissioners discussed that some existing curbside islands on Brentwood may be removed as part of the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) project and roadway work, and that the GDG/GRG project aims to take advantage of infrastructure work to create a different final streetscape configuration.
Commissioners encouraged residents to complete the GRG survey and noted that information is available on GRG’s website and the city’s Facebook page. Staff said the city is allowing GRG to lead communications for the project and that the commission can help amplify outreach through the city’s Friday newsletter and social channels.
The commission said early input helps planners shape options and that further design and construction decisions — including changes to islands and lane configurations — will be determined by MSD, GRG and city partners as the project advances.
