The council took several procedural actions Aug. 18:
- Meeting schedule: Because many members will attend the Missouri Municipal League conference, the council voted to reschedule the regular Sept. 15 meeting to Monday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. The motion to reschedule passed with an affirmative voice vote.
- Minutes and committee minutes: The council approved meeting minutes from Aug. 4, 2025 and accepted the Planning & Zoning Commission minutes dated July 2, 2025.
- Liquor licenses: Council approved five renewal applications in a block: Amarillo’s Taqueria Bakery and Grocery (packaged liquor and Sunday sales), Break Time #3084 (pkg. liquor), Prime Time #3 LLC (package liquor and Sunday sales at two addresses listed), and Taqueria El Castino LLC (liquor by the drink and Sunday sales). Council discussed that one of the applicants had a pending court case for an alleged sale to a minor; staff noted that the case remained pending and due process applies.
Why it matters: The scheduling vote ensures the council will have a quorum at a rescheduled meeting while allowing members to attend the MML conference; approval of licenses follows standard renewal procedure with pending legal matters handled through due-process channels.
Next steps: Staff will publish the updated schedule and process the liquor-license renewals per city procedure.
