Staff said the change aims to mitigate recurring overland flooding in the area and to reduce the volume of stormwater sent to the wastewater treatment facilities.
Ryan (Staff member) told the committee the bid opening on April 1, 2025 yielded seven bids and that Boulder Contractors was the apparent low bidder. Project engineer Trotter and Associates provided a favorable reference check, staff said, and Boulder Contractors is a new contractor to the village. Ryan said staff expects work to start in early June after contract execution.
A village official raised the need to record on the public record that the award was contingent on attorney and village manager approval; the motion on the resolution was recorded as adopted with that condition. The committee and later the Village Board voted in favor of the award.
Funding was recorded in account number 520.9952‑44102. The village presentation noted one of the motivations for oversizing the storm system is to lessen costs and treatment demand at the wastewater treatment plant by keeping stormwater out of sanitary flows.
