The approval allows individual instruction by appointment; staff said the proposed use is consistent with the M-2 zoning district but requires the special-use approval and customary building and fire plan review before operations begin.
Planning staff told the board the petitioner met Planning and Zoning on Dec. 11, 2024, which recommended approval and forwarded the request to the Village Board. Petitioner Mike Semprevivo, who identified himself as a Glen Ellyn resident and a Glenbard West graduate, told the board he and his partner provided roughly 3,200 individual lessons in 2024 and have about 17 years of experience. "We are not looking to have teams or people walking off the street. This will be individual instruction by appointment," Semprevivo said.
Semprevivo described the space as an intimate, quiet environment for one-on-one instruction. Staff said the hours of operation would be weekdays, 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and weekends, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The ordinance includes a waiver of the second-reading requirement that was requested by staff and granted by the board before the final vote.
The board adopted the ordinance on a roll call that recorded "yes" from Trustees Del Rosario, Hundley, Klusny, Nasti, O'Brien and Reyes. No votes or abstentions were recorded on the transcript for this item.
Next steps include completion of building and fire plan review and any required permitting before Get Ready Baseball and Softball may open at the listed address.
