Addison School Board approves auditor, food-service and custodial contracts, salary increases and fund transfer

The board voted to award the district audit services for fiscal years 2026–28 to Lauterbach and Amen, following a recommendation that firm stepped in last year after the prior auditor resigned. The board also approved renewing the district’s food-service management contract with Organic Life for the 2025–26 school year; board materials and speakers said the company’s fresh‑fruit and fresh‑vegetable focus produced noticeably better food quality this year. The custodial services contract with the incumbent vendor was renewed under its first extension option.
Board members approved administrative and non‑certified salary increases and contracts recommended by the district salary subcommittee; the motion passed on a roll-call vote. The board also approved the district’s 2025–26 consolidated district plan required under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.
On a separate administrative item, the board approved the appointment of Melissa Morgasey as school treasurer and authorized execution of the annual treasurer’s bond, a filing the district said is required by the Illinois School Code. The board also approved a resolution to transfer funds from Fund 20 (operations and maintenance) to Fund 60 (capital projects) to ensure a positive beginning balance for the new fiscal year.
Board members who moved and seconded motions included Jeremiah Tasso, Serge (board member), Zach (board member) and Dave (board member) on various items; roll-call votes on each motion were recorded in the meeting minutes. Each of the named motions passed on recorded votes.
The board discussion included questions about the reason for the food-service contract increase; district staff said the renewal includes a 3.6 percent increase and emphasized food quality improvements and federal meal program reimbursements (Community Eligibility Provision) that affect net pricing. Staff said the auditor provided critical support last year when the prior auditor resigned and recommended awarding the multi‑year engagement to Lauterbach and Amen. For the treasurer’s bond, staff noted a numeric error on the bond calculation form that would be corrected before final execution.
The approvals were procedural, with the board voting to adopt each contract and budget motion as presented. Implementation steps include executing contracts and filing required bond and treasurer notifications with the regional office of education.
