Citizens Police Academy alumni urge village to host community internet-safety sessions

Ed Pope and other alumni described a recent Citizens Police Academy session that covered online predation and interactive gaming platforms such as Roblox. They said the presentation by Detective Jennifer Rosario and Sergeant Hocko (the academy instructor) revealed risks that many parents may not know about and urged the village to promote a community training so more families attend.
Chief Pappas and academy instructors said the police department already runs programs, including Kids Smart and ICAC‑related materials for schools, and that an adult/family version can be offered. Chief Pappas said the department has training and resources and that outreach could be expanded if there is community demand; officers encouraged use of the academy alumni as ambassadors to promote future events.
No formal commitment to a date was made at the meeting, but police and community volunteers agreed to discuss scheduling and promotion to reach parents and residents who did not previously attend school-based sessions.
