The Village of Gurnee approved the fire department’s request to purchase six Lifepak 35 cardiac monitors and six years of maintenance from Stryker at a total cost of $347,841.84 under a Savic buying group contract. Deputy Fire Chief Dave Douglas provided a memo saying the department’s six ambulances currently use Lifepak 15 monitors that are at end of life and no longer supported; repair of outdated components can be expensive. Staff said the Lifepak 35 offers more advanced monitoring and data transfer capabilities to hospitals and that the two newest Lifepak 15 units will be redeployed to frontline engines so engines can collect patient data when they arrive first on scene. Trustee Turner moved the purchase and Trustee O'Brien seconded. In roll call the board recorded six ayes and the motion carried. Staff said the cost was included in the approved budget for the year.
