The Moline City Council on Aug. 5 authorized staff to execute a notice of intent to award a $1,539,000 contract to Leander Construction Inc. for chemical phosphorus removal improvements at Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2.
City staff said the improvements are required by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA). City Administrator Vytas said the contract will allow the city to begin planning, design and construction for the phosphorus removal work at the North Slope plant. The item was introduced by staff and approved by council as part of the consent agenda.
Action: the council approved authorization to execute the notice of intent to award the construction contract (Resolution 8.2). The motion was made and seconded on the council floor and the item passed.
Next steps: staff will finalize the contract with Leander Construction, proceed with design and construction scheduling, and coordinate IEPA compliance reporting as required.
