The Webster Groves Arts Commission approved plans to host a single roundtable to gather business-district leaders, trade association officers and other stakeholders to discuss ways the arts can support local businesses. Staff and commissioners said the Webster Groves Public Library would serve as a neutral, centrally located venue with an early start time to accommodate attendees.
Commissioners described outreach steps: business-district chairs and trade-association presidents will be asked to email their membership, staff will make personal phone calls to highly involved business owners, and the commission’s invitation will use clear language to explain the Arts Commission’s role. The commission recommended using an online RSVP form (for example, a Google Form linked on the city website) so attendees can register and staff can estimate turnout.
Possible agenda topics include introductions and purpose, benefits and drawbacks to arts-business partnerships, breakout discussions on incorporating public art into district events and ideas for displaying art along business corridors. Commissioners proposed mid-October dates and identified Tuesday, Oct. 14 as a target; final date selection will depend on library availability and coordinating with business district schedules. Staff agreed to reserve the library and provide an RSVP link for outreach.
