City update: new deputy city manager, comprehensive plan public hearing and Deer Creek Greenway open house

The staff presentation noted the county liaison for the streetscape project will likely remain the commission's primary contact for that specific project.
On the comprehensive plan, staff reminded commissioners that the document's first council consideration is complete and that a public hearing is scheduled for Sept. 2. The comprehensive plan is described as a 20-year land-use vision and staff urged commissioners and residents to review it on the city website and submit comments by email or at the public hearing.
Staff also said Great Rivers Greenway is accelerating work on a Deer Creek Greenway segment and will host an open house Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. to discuss the project and potential connections to the Kirkwood trail network. Staff flagged the meeting as relevant for bicyclists and residents near the planned route.
Staff additionally reported council guidance that commissions should verify quorum 24 hours in advance; if no verified quorum exists, meetings may be canceled. Staff encouraged commission members to RSVP so meetings can proceed.
No formal city action or council vote occurred during the update; staff urged commissioners to engage with the comprehensive plan and to attend the greenway open house if interested.
