Commissioners discussed plans to expand the district's presence at the community trick-or-treat event on Oct. 25, including using visible corner lots, coordinating food trucks and producing a participation map for families.
The commission aims to make the business district more visible during the event by placing food trucks and activities in street-facing lots that will attract foot traffic. A prospective tenant with a food truck was mentioned as a possible vendor; one participant said the truck's menu is burgers and another referenced a vendor called Farm Truck.
Commissioners agreed to develop and distribute a short outreach letter to merchants to solicit participation and to publish a map showing participating locations. One commissioner offered to send an outreach email quickly: "If you composed a short letter from the commission... that's what I can send out when I say, will you plan to participate?" The group planned to finalize locations, including corner lots near Big Bend and Elm and other street-facing parking areas, and to coordinate with business owners on logistics such as power and fire pits.
The commission said it will include Crossroads on the event map as a separate map area while expanding participation as more businesses join. Staff and volunteers will follow up in the next few weeks to collect participants and finalize the map.
No formal votes were taken; the discussion produced outreach commitments and offers of assistance from commissioners and business owners.
