Board members replied that replacing the heavier vertical mullions with a slider would make the front elevation appear “unsubstantial” and “flimsy.”
Formal action: the board approved the window package for 41 West Drake on the condition that opening No. 1 not be a three-light slider. The approved configuration keeps the heavy vertical mullions and a picture window in the center with either double-hung or casement windows as the flankers. The motion passed unanimously.
Board members also advised the applicant to ensure the owner understands how black window frames and the absence of divided lights will change the home’s curb appearance before ordering product.
