The Webster Groves Architectural Review Board on Wednesday approved revised porch drawings for 428 Glen Road after the applicant presented minor changes to the roof peak and porch face.
The applicant’s architect, Alex Blaze of Blaze Architects, told the board, “we do have some updated drawings, that are slightly different than what you guys have. It's some relatively minor changes. Essentially, we are lowering the peak of the gable on the porch, slightly ... as well as moving the face of it back about 12 inches from the edge.”
Board members said the revised drawings addressed their concerns about the porch massing and alignment with the existing box beam. The board voted to approve the project “with the drawings that we received tonight.”
Why it matters: The approved changes alter the porch’s visual proportion and how it meets the existing roofline; the board treated the submittal as a final approval rather than a preliminary review once the revised sheets were presented.
Board discussion and outcome: Alex Blaze showed updated sheets on-screen and described the lowered gable and 12‑inch setback. No public comments were offered during the public hearing. A motion to approve the project using the revised drawings carried; the board recorded unanimous vocal support when members answered “Aye.”
Next steps: The architect and applicant may proceed with the approved details as shown on the drawings submitted at the meeting. The board did not record additional conditions or follow-up tasks tied to the approval.
