Members of the Green Space Advisory Commission discussed the 2022 Forever Webster Groves plan and proposed a subcommittee to review and draft suggested updates or action items the commission could endorse. The plan, described at the meeting as a "living document," lists four focus areas: transportation, built environment, natural environment and community engagement and development.
Commission Chair (unnamed) said the sustainability commission had targeted the plan for biannual review and suggested the Green Space Advisory Commission identify parts of the plan where it could plug in programming or policy recommendations. "It's a great document. It's very comprehensive," one commissioner said, adding that it could serve as a framework for Green Space's work plan.
Commissioners proposed a three-step approach: (1) one or two commissioners form a subcommittee to draft suggested language or actionable items; (2) the draft would return to the full Green Space commission for review; and (3) the commission would coordinate with the sustainability commission chair or planning staff before sending recommendations to the City Council or staff for consideration.
The commission asked members to re-read the natural-environment section before the next meeting and agreed to place a formal agenda item to discuss the plan again. No formal policy change was adopted at the meeting.
