BDC adds regular Chamber report to agenda amid push for closer regional collaboration

Jerry, the chamber representative in the meeting, described the chamber’s shift toward a regional model covering multiple municipalities and said roughly 80% of the chamber’s membership activity comes from Webster Groves. “We are a big community,” he said, urging the commission to view chamber reports as a way to share information that could benefit local businesses and recruitment efforts.
Commissioners discussed confidentiality concerns and asked how chamber activities would differ from the commission’s work. Several members said they welcomed more active, participatory chamber involvement—beyond an observer role—and asked for a brief, timed report slot to allow the chamber to present updates at appropriate times in the agenda.
The motion to permit regular chamber reports passed in the meeting. Staff and the chamber agreed to coordinate a short (five to seven minute) presentation for a future meeting and to bring a more detailed agenda item for discussion at an upcoming session.
