Organizers of the Old Webster street dance said they have a band and stage lined up and that a permit application will be submitted; the event is scheduled for June 21 in downtown Old Webster and staff said the city27s special activity permit process will route the application through police, fire, parks and public works for signoffs.
Street dance organizer Joe Raff told commission staff he would deliver paperwork in person and coordinate on public‑works needs; staff advised that Erin from Police Department is coordinating special activity permits and that dropping the application at City Hall will start interdepartmental review.
Separately, a commissioner raised a proposal to host a farmers market on a recently acquired property on Lockwood. Staff and commissioners cautioned that vendors selling goods must obtain business licenses, and that food trucks are not permitted in business districts unless the district expressly approves them. Commissioners recommended the organizers consult the Trade Association and the Business District Commission for location, timing and licensing guidance.
Commissioners noted past Webster farmers markets ran for several years but eventually lapsed; more recent pop‑up producers in Old Orchard have had some success. No formal permits or approvals were voted at this meeting; applicants were advised to submit applications and coordinate with staff for departmental review.
