The swearing-in of council members and the mayor took place under New Business before the consent agenda. Judge Jack administered the oath for newly elected officials.
The council then held an internal vote to choose its council president. "I would like to nominate Kim Young," a council member said; the nomination received a second and the council voted in favor. The motion passed unanimously.
Council President Kim Young thanked colleagues after her selection, saying, "I appreciated your, helping me all year long and covering and partnering with me on their duties. I look forward to working with you again this year." The mayor and other members offered congratulations during the meeting.
The council moved on immediately after the selection to the consent agenda and other scheduled items.
No additional official actions beyond the selection and the oaths were taken during the swearing-in portion of the agenda.
