Detour planning: Road and Bridge staff presented an unofficial detour map for the US‑59 railroad‑overpass reconstruction and said the route under consideration would affect roads used countywide; Pratt Road, Queens Road and Fortieth were among routes discussed. Staff said they would coordinate with neighboring Labette County and KDOT and requested notification from the contractor when work scheduling is finalized.
Other roadwork discussed: staff outlined plans to pave a short connector between Elk Road and the old movie-theater corner while crews are in the area for the bridge project, and said chip-seal patch work is planned on several roads. Commissioners agreed to proceed with the connector paving as an efficient use of crews while the contractor is on site.
