Nikki Madder, representing the Gateworks STEAM Center, reported to the advisory board that the center registered 366 students for the year and had substantial community use: “In the last 6 months, we've had 3,599 people come through the door,” she said. Madder provided principals with event information and invited walking field trips to the center’s September traveling exhibit, the American Revolution Experience.

Madder said the center will run 24 classes this semester and highlighted specific upcoming programming: a teacher training on microplastics in cooperation with the Desert Research Institute on Sept. 13, LEGO and drone tournaments, and a Wednesday evening reception tied to the traveling exhibit. She asked principals to share the event information with their schools and noted strong participation among several grade levels, including 136 fourth graders and enrollment of about 80 preschoolers.

The update was informational; no formal board action followed. Madder asked principals to promote the center’s opportunities to students and staff.
