The Saint Bernard Parish School Board received its monthly personnel report on Aug. 12 and heard that the district is nearly fully staffed for the start of the school year. Miss Albers, who presented the personnel item, told the board the list included appointments, transfers and two retirements: Sandra Nucio, a long-serving school nurse, and Deborah Scarpero, a paraeducator at Chalmette preschool. Albers said both employees will be thanked for their years of service. Board member Mister Long asked whether the district was fully staffed for the current school week; Miss Albers said the district was "almost fully staffed" and that only a few vacancies remained. She added the district was well staffed with bus drivers and had candidates in the hiring queue. No formal vote was taken; the personnel changes were presented for board information and acknowledgment. Board members thanked staff for staffing efforts ahead of the third day of the school year.
