School board committee approves sending 2025-26 pupil progression plan to state

The Saint Bernard Parish School Board education committee on Aug. 12 voted unanimously to recommend the district's 2025-26 pupil progression plan for submission to the Louisiana Department of Education. The plan will be transmitted to the state after it is signed by a district official; administrators said the deadline for submission is Oct. 31. District staff told the committee the plan contains only minor local edits and primarily incorporates changes required by the state. Nicole Gauthier, a district staff member who presented the item, said the most notable statewide change governs access to instructional offerings for high school students and that the only local-page change appears in Section 10, page 15. "There's very few changes from last year," Gauthier said, describing the revisions as chiefly the state's additions to ensure students have access to courses and counseling to meet their postsecondary goals. Committee members asked no substantive follow-up questions. Board member Mister Long moved to recommend the plan to the full board; Miss White seconded. The committee recorded a 9-0 vote in favor. The committee's action was a recommendation to the full school board; final adoption and any implementation steps will be set at a later board meeting.
