The Personnel Committee approved an amendment to the college and career coach job description at its meeting Tuesday, Aug. 19. The committee approved language added to the position’s key responsibilities to ensure students have opportunities to complete high school graduation requirements and to plan postsecondary pathways.
Bobby Matthews, staff member, told the committee the position had been approved previously and that the amendment adds a specific responsibility. “This particular item is time sensitive. We need to get this one done soon,” Matthews said.
Committee members discussed the funding that supports the position. A committee member explained that the position is grant-funded and that the grant requires specific wording in the job description for the funds to be used. Dr. Fussell provided additional background, the committee was told.
The committee chair made the motion to place the amended job description on the floor; Miss Jenkins seconded. “I’ll make the motion to get it on the floor,” the chair said. Voting was opened and the motion carried; the committee did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript.
Committee members noted the item is time-sensitive and indicated the full board agenda may need to be amended so the change can take effect immediately. With no other business on the agenda, the committee adjourned.
No dollar amounts, implementation dates or vote tallies were specified in the meeting transcript provided.
