Board members used the superintendent's updates and board comments to press for clearer timelines on phase-2 capital projects and to highlight recent facilities work. Several members praised new floors at Sumner and noted the visible benefit of painting, lights and ceiling repairs, and urged the administration to prioritize routine improvements that boost public perception.
One board member asked staff to provide a detailed report on phase-2 project programming, which architects have which projects, and contract dates so the board can track design timelines and hold architects to schedules. The capital outlay committee report for July 15 was accepted earlier in the meeting and staff said programming for phase 2 would be available at the next capital outlay meeting.
Members also urged expansion of career and technical education and driver's education, discussed progress on gym air-conditioning upgrades and roof repairs, and asked for continued emphasis on low-cost improvements such as LED lighting and fresh paint that yield high public benefit.
