Nye County licensing staff reported to the commission Aug. 5 that the retail liquor license for Short Branch Saloon, 3335 S. Mustang Way in Crystal, had not been renewed because the licensee did not pay the required annual renewal fee. Licensing staff said they attempted phone contact, the renewal payment was not received by June 30, and certified mail notices were picked up at the post office but the county received no response from the licensee.

The board opened a show‑cause hearing after staff posted a notice at the place of business. Licensing staff explained they posted the hearing notice at the establishment after the board’s earlier July 15 nonrenewal action and confirmed there was still no contact or payment. “Renewal notices for FY26 were sent in May…we made attempts to contact this licensee via phone multiple times,” staff said.

With no representative present, a commissioner moved to revoke the retail liquor license for failure to renew; the motion passed and the county will administratively record the revocation and file appropriate notices. County staff said the business appeared to continue some operations despite the nonrenewal and that revocation was necessary to enforce the licensing rules.

Ending: The board instructed licensing staff to document the revocation, notify state regulators of the action and pursue any additional administrative follow‑up required by county code.
