Board approves administrator contract adjustment after executive session

Following a 35‑minute executive session during the Sept. 2 meeting, the Auburn‑Washburn USD 437 Board of Education returned to open session and approved an adjustment to an administrator’s contract by a 6‑0 vote.

The board’s executive session notice (read publicly before going into closed session) said the board would discuss matters related to students, nonelected personnel, budget and employer‑employee negotiations. The motion that followed open session stated simply: “The Board of Education approves the adjustment to the administrator's contract as discussed in executive session.” The motion passed unanimously among the six members present; one member, Michael White, was absent.

The board did not disclose particulars of the contract adjustment in open session. Board action to approve the adjustment was limited to the single public motion and vote recorded in the minutes.
