The Bossier Parish School Board voted to approve the district—s pupil progression plan for the 2025-26 school year at its Aug. 21 meeting. Assistant Superintendent Whelan Bates presented the plan, saying the policy covers promotion and retention procedures from kindergarten through 12th grade. Bates said the plan was developed following Bulletin 1566 and Bulletin 741, through a committee of three principals—one each representing elementary, middle and high school—and that a parent informational meeting was offered but had no attendees. Bates told the board the plan had been posted for a week for public viewing and comment prior to the vote. The motion to approve was made by Board Member Smith and seconded by Board Member Brotherton; the board voted to adopt the plan as presented. Bates characterized the plan as "all things academic in our school system" and noted the document had been shared with the superintendent and curriculum supervisors, including contributions from the special education department. No amendments were made on the board floor.
