USD 443 awarded the district copy-paper bid to Veritiv after staff testing determined the low bidder’s submitted sample caused jams in the district’s print production machinery. District staff explained that Liberty Paper submitted the lowest bid but the sample failed to meet required specifications during a test run in the print shop; paper from Liberty jammed multiple times. Staff recommended award to Veritiv, the next compliant bidder, and the board approved that recommendation by unanimous vote.
Board members praised the staff for the due diligence and testing that supported the recommendation. The procurement will supply the district’s annual need, which staff estimated to be about three semi-truckloads of paper for the year. The purchase will proceed according to the approved bid and district procurement rules.
