The USD 443 Board of Education approved a temporary construction easement to permit construction of the South Dodge walking trail adjacent to Sunnyside Elementary.
Patrick from business services described the project as a joint effort with the City of Dodge, SMH consultants and the Kansas Department of Transportation. He told the board the main construction will be to the north and south of Sunnyside and will not interfere with the front of the school. "There is no financial consideration on the part of the district," he said, and staff said construction is planned for summer to limit disruption.
The board voted 4–0 to grant the easement.
Ending: District staff said they had asked the city and consultants for additional details and will coordinate timing and disruption mitigation with school schedules.
