Curriculum committee forwards multiple student-policy updates to full board

The Curriculum Policy Committee reported to the full board on Aug. 20 that it reviewed and voted to adopt several district policies and forward them to the full board for approval.
Assistant Superintendent Bruce Shafin presented the policies and explained each item to committee members. Policies discussed included policy IF-25 (instructional materials), a policy on student computer access and use (identified in committee materials as IFBGA-25), policies addressing absences and excuses, a bullying and hazing policy (JDE-25), and a child-abuse policy (JGCE-25). After discussion the committee voted unanimously to adopt the policies and send them to the full board for final approval.
Cecil Harris moved adoption in committee and Caitlin Cochran seconded; the committee then adjourned. At the full meeting the board voted to accept the committee report and forward the policies to the full board for approval as recommended.
The committee presentation included explanations of the policies' intent and operational effects; no substantive amendments were recorded during the committee report.
