Richard Falcon, representing Compass Behavioral Health, spoke to the USD 443 board during the public comment portion to introduce the agency's local services and partnerships.
Falcon said Compass has grown substantially in the past two years and described a range of services for children and adults, including individual, family and group therapy, medication services, and specialized therapies such as accelerated resolution therapy (ART) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). "Not only is all of our therapists trained in ART, so are our case managers," he said.
He listed the agency's clinical capacity and programs: two psychiatrists (Dr. Crane as medical director and Dr. Henson as a child psychiatrist), 11 therapists in Dodge City and 10 medical personnel in the agency, a therapeutic preschool for ages 3–5, same-day access for walk-ins during business hours, and school-based therapists in several small towns and some high schools. He said Compass operates a Garden City pharmacy, Genoa Health Care, that can mail medications to clients.
Falcon also described crisis and respite housing: a 10-bed teen crisis house called Haven House in Garden City and an adult crisis house named Wayfinders. He said Compass provides 24-hour crisis services and a mobile crisis team that can respond in the field and follow up with individuals after attempts. "We do 24 hour crisis services," he said. "We also have mobile crisis services, which means we'll go to you instead of them coming to our center."
Ending: Falcon thanked the board and expressed appreciation for school-district partnerships. No formal board action followed his remarks.
