The USD 443 Board of Education adopted the fiscal-year 2025–26 budget during its regular meeting on Sept. 8, 2025, approving the document that had been published in the Dodge City Daily Globe on Aug. 28, 2025. The published budget lists a total mill levy of 47.926 mills for 2025–26.
Business services staff explained to the board that the figures in the published budget represent the maximum amount the district may spend in each fund; that is, the budget establishes spending authority rather than a promise to spend every dollar listed. District officials noted final, audited state numbers will not be available until June 2026 and that count day for student membership — which factors into state funding — is Sept. 22, 2025.
During discussion board members and administration emphasized the complexity of the budgeting process and thanked staff involved in preparing the proposed budget. The board unanimously approved adoption of the budget by voice vote.
The board also authorized district officers — the superintendent and clerk, and the board president or vice president — to sign and file required budget documents and certifications with the state, consistent with statutory deadlines. The adoption followed the district’s earlier resolution authorizing a levy above the revenue-neutral rate (Resolution No. 202500908).
